I'm never one to follow the rules, so I decided to put distortion on two of my pad sounds at the same time on this track. So, I'll be the first one to admit it's not me at my best. The Dionysian, sweat-drenched excesses of the album are tempered not by insipid dreamscapes but by moments of intriguing experimentation. And because it was away from everyone I could make all the noise I wanted. It made me very nostalgic, hence the track title. That is something that I like to reproduce in my songs. vitalic valletta fanfares

After that, I just leave that draft to one side for some time, and then I get back to it later. Especially the ones where he would record a simple sentence and then just move the cursor of the sampler to make effects while reading the sample [Korda's infamous effects processor loop technique].

It is a very hard sounding track. Looking back now, it feels a bit rushed.

I made these short, weird pieces, which were more like polka, or straight-up pop songs like Valletta Friend Dario. I added some weird dotted LFOs to it that would give this feeling that the sound was continuing on some long unstable wave. You can hear me doing that here.

I think it works. I did have some nice chairs and stuff, though.

It's taken the best part of four years for Arbez to follow up the success of 'La Rock French techno producer Pascal Arbez laboured a good few years in relative obscurity under the guises of Dima and Hustler Pornstar before releasing his Poney EP as Vitalic.

Nor was it the electroclash Vitalic was known for.

That's what I was going for here. It was playful, and reflected Arbez's personal journey to now, through his musical influences. It's something I had wanted to do for a long time, just for the challenge, really.

fafares I love it when artists sneak material on to albums. One of the vitalc two fingered salutes so far to the myopic prophets of dance music's doom, Ok Cowboy is vibrant, visceral and vital in a way that Daft Punk and other established dancefloor luminaries can no longer manage.

It wasn't until that I actually sat down to write it. Clips taken from original discs may contain strong language. It is quite 70s, really.

BBC - Music - Review of Vitalic - OK Cowboy

Sometimes it takes years for me to write a song. Valetta full-length release, OK Cowboy, only shocked in so much that it kept fanfsres quality up, as well as featuring a host of surprises, helping create an album that would go on to be mentioned in the same breath as Daft Punk's Homework. Of course, there were some disappointments and bad reviews, but that is all part of the game.

That song was used a lot in movies, actually. If you choose to use this review on your site please link back to this page.

I would say that I never make a song in just one day. I wasn't even sure if I should put it on the album, as it was so different, but everyone that heard it said that I should.

It wasn't my cup of tea, because I'm more impressed by a good melody on a track, rather than pre-sampled bleeps and bloops. I just know that it took some time before I really started because I couldn't focus, with all the work and personal stuff I was going through. I left everything like it was when I found it, with the superb 70s wallpaper and funky old carpets. Maybe this is me coming to terms with that and trying for that sound again? It made me very nostalgic, hence the track title.

I also got sounds like that using the Novation Nova - I really used that piece of equipment a lot. The room was not that big, to be honest.
